This is a dry version of the world famous Sauternes dessert wine from a highly regarded Sauternes producer. In fact, Chateau Suidarat was ranked as Premier Cru Classé in the original Bordeaux Wine Official Classification of 1855. I tried this wine at a Bordeaux tasting and flipped for it. This wine is crazy good for the price. Kurt Fauerbach, Owner Xplor Wine
Tasting Notes:
An open nose on white flowers and citrus fruits, then with aeration it evolves towards notes of passion fruit and a mineral touch. The attack is round and fresh, the delicious mid-palate reveals notes of pink pomelo, pear and roasted hazelnut. The finish is persistent with aromas of hazelnut, pear and a marked saline side. Tasting Notes:
I love the dry whites from the Sauternes area, and this is a good example - and of why Sémillon is such an interesting grape to work with in crafting dry whites with personality. A little less round in mouthfeel from some in the area (not appellation - this is Bordeaux Blanc), but still with slate texture and minerality showing how well the soils here can work for dry whites, and an excellent juicy delivery of citrus and white pear. Tasting Notes:
The 2020 Blanc Sec de Suduiraut is creamy, expansive and very pretty, all of which make it a real delight to taste. Pear, almond, dried flowers and mint build effortlessly in the glass. The Blanc Sec is a consistently delicious, enticing wine, and the 2020 is no exception. Vinous
